players in the open field can not lead with their helmet. (outside tackle box).15 yard penalty plus subsequent fine. Purely judgement call. Hard to identify in real time. Penalizes players for bending down to protect themselves. We are about to see a massive increase in broken collarbones, collapsed lungs, broken ribs, and oh by the way MORE CONCUSSSIONS!. A player who does not crouch to absorb a hit will get laid out Jadaveon Clowney style and potentially smack his head on the turf, hard! which in the winter, gets HARD! this is a ridiculous rule and I think will severely damage the sport. Better way to eliminate leading with the helmet for hitting purposes: do not make it a penalizeable offense, but if the tape indicates and intent to lead with the crown, a fine should be issues. If the head is lowered as a defensive precaution, no issue.

the tuck rule is gone. If a player loses control of the ball in the act of “tucking” it, it will be ruled a fumble. This is the way it should have been, and potentially always was. If not for the “cinderella pot-9/11 season the PATRIOTS were having, this would never have been an issue. The vote passed 31-1 with the ROBERT KRAFT voting against it. Classy! That AFC title game and superbowl should have an asterisk next to it!

The Jim Schwartz rule is implemented, eliminating the disconnect between a coach negating the ability to review a play because he throws a flag on an automatically reviewed play.

first the trade of Boldin to the 9ers for a 6th round pick. story surfaced that once the ravens decided they would not be retaiing Bolding, Harbaugh called Harbaugh and worked out the trade. team didnt let the market decide the price for boldin. didnt allow teams to negotiate and compete to trade for him. it was a back room deal between brothers, essentially handing jim a consolation prize and a “hope he helps you get one next year”

next, the Ravens have lost Ellerbe, Lewis, Kruger, Pollard, Boldin, and now Ed Reed becomes the newest memeber of the Texans.

Fired unjustly by the Cowboys, thought he had Rams job locked up until they decided it was better to be stubborn than employed. Ryan lifes the 3-4, Rams have a 4-3 and felt strongly in their personnel. At this point in the off-season, there are few DC positions left. Saints maybe, but the Saints just fired Spagnolo, who was the Rams HC, and Greg Williams was hired by the Rams, so hes clearly a 4-3 guy, so the saints probably dont work. Ravens window closing
-while they are going to have to pay flacco big money, somewhere around 16-17 million a year, they are over the cap, with big decisions to make. Boldin and Jacoby Jones contracts are not guaranteed and would free up 9 mill in cap space if cut. Paul Kruger, their best pass-rusher is also set to be a free-agent. Best case scenario is to sign flacco and tag kruger, but well see how accomodating Flacco is going to be. they have big time deals in place with ngata, webb, rice among others, torrey smith is due big money in a couple of years. With Lewis retiring, and Reed probably moving on, is this the last opportunity for the ravens to win, and if it is, is it worth tying up nearly 100 million dollars in joe flacco?

Since winning 3 Superbowls with the help of the tuck rule, Vinatieri’s leg, and a defense that included Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour and Rod Woodson among others, the Pats have won their division 7 out of 8 years, yet are 8-7 in the playoffs including 2 Superbowl losses. Brady is now 35, past his prime and his biggest security blanket Wes Welker will NOT be back next year, and the Gronk is becoming a liability regarding injury. Belichek is the longest tenured head coach, and one that is defensive minded, has not been able to rebuild a stout defense since losing his main guys, despite former DROY Jerod Mayo and countless high round defensive draft picks such as Brandon Spikes, Devin McCourtey, Brandon Merriweather, Patrick Chung, Dont’a Hightower, Chandler Jones.

Rob Ryan has been fired, replaced by 72 year old Monte Kiffin. Jason Garrett has his power stripped and given to Bill Callahan, who himself is under massive scrutiny. Romo is entering the final year of his contract, and Jay Ratliff, one of their few defensive stars, has been having off-field issues, including his DWI, and confrontations with Jerry Jones. What is it going to take for Jerry to hire a GM and just be an owner. Al Davis was a crazy owner/gm, but he at least was a football guy.

Trestman is coming off back-to-back CFL championships (which by NFL standards probably translates to a 9-7 record)

I was bored. Lack of offense all around. Texans fans should be very worried going into New England next week.
OC Mike McCoy, coveted by multiple teams, had a terrible game plan. In the 3rd quarter the Bengals came out in a no-huddle, hurry-up offense and hit A.J. Green multiple times and __ a couple of times. It was working and they stopped. Poor game management. Dalton’s timing on the deep ball was off all game long! Plenty of seperation all night but poor execution

Vikings/Packers
Vikings prove once again that having a COMPETENT back-up is neccessary. Joe Webb was incredibly uncomfortable. Did not appear to have grasp of offense, or proper throwing mechanics. a dozen passes hit the ground short of the receiver. Lack of chemistry is expected, lack of ability is inexcusable.
Packers simply played an edge rush and kept AP up the middle the entire game and Rodgers checked down EVERYTHING. Dump off up the middle over and over again. YAC-City
